Hunter: For The Record

"In hip hop, we call those people Kings..."

A formative member of Western Australian hip-hop crew Syllabolix, Robert Hunter (aka MC Hunter), is widely regarded as a pioneer of Australian hip hop, one of the industry’s most prolific artists, and the genre's biggest fan.

When Hunter found out at age 35 that his time on Earth was to be cut cruelly short by terminal cancer, he used music, film and social media to express and document his physical, emotional and spiritual journey. His fight was broadcast, largely by Hunter himself, in a very raw, public, widespread and honest manner.

For Hunter himself, cancer became a lens through which the important things in life came sharply into focus. In a compelling mix of documentary footage, video dairies, home movies, music and interviews with some of Australian hip hops most iconic artists, Hunter: For The Record documents a man driven to change and leave a lasting legacy of which both he, and his young son Marley, could be proud.
