Craft is part of our everyday life. Craft objects and techniques have held our stories for millennia. Craft is our future. Craft, as part of the visual arts and design sector, provides vital livelihood to individuals and communities in Australia and around the Indian Ocean.

The 1st Indian Ocean Craft Triennial brings together artists, makers, and crafted works from a selection of countries from around the Indian Ocean Rim.

Through the artists and their creative craft approaches, a number of sub-themes and messages have emerged in the exhibition, such as: cultural reclamation, socio-political, environment and technology.
